The WELLBEING Project
for Students
Boost Student Wellbeing
The teenage years are a time of significant life transitions, physical & emotional changes, intellectual demands as well as the added pressures of being a modern-day teenager. Indications suggest a deterioration in teen mental health with many reported to be struggling.
In this program we will explore the factors that boost wellbeing and happiness, reduce stress, and examine the skills required to thrive in school and beyond. The sessions along with the worksheet exercises will encourage students to take action on each topic we discuss. The ultimate goal is for students to feel better, boost happiness & wellbeing and build healthier habits.
What We Will Cover
Happiness Illusions
Learn what it actually means to be happy and why pursuing happiness has knock on effects in all aspects of life. We look at how our minds lie to us and how our misconceptions about money, possessions, status, exam results and social media hinder us from experiencing true happiness and wellbeing.
Brain Biases
Discover how brain biases can cloud our judgement when it comes to achieving happiness. We explore how we adapt to our life’s circumstances, both good and bad, and how to deal with this, along with errors we make in predicting what we will want in the future. We look at how we compare ourselves to others using inappropriate reference points and what we can do to deal with our limited attention.
Actions to Boost Wellbeing
Learn about activities that boost wellbeing and happiness. We discuss the importance of relationships, finding time to do the things we love, and practicing healthy habits. We explain how sufficient sleep, and regular exercise can have a real effect.
Mindsets to Boost Wellbeing
We discuss thought patterns and mindsets that lead to experiencing more positive emotions. We address the power of focusing on our thoughts, experiencing gratitude, practicing mindfulness, and altering unhelpful perspectives.
Emotions to Boost Wellbeing
Learn how regulating our emotions is a key skill for boosting wellbeing and happiness. We explore the importance of both positive and negative emotions, and how to regulate our stress response.
Taking Action
Investigate techniques to achieve happiness goals learned throughout the program. We investigate how we can put happiness tips into practice, addressing the ways in which situations and people can affect us. We also discuss how to implement better habits and hack the habits that we do have.
